Thick, chunky, soft and colorful yarn makes this perfect to brighten your way you need a little extra warmth from the gloomy weather.
one skein made this mobius scarf and this small hat (or large child hat). I'm glad I didn't try to make a regular size hat because I had just enough for this one. The scarf can be twisted into a cowl--it will be close to your neck and cozy for an adult but also manageable size for kids.
This yarn was full of surprises as I knit. And depending how you twist it, turn it, flip it. you can draw attention to different colors to match or contrast with your outfit. This is knit with cable knit so it's thicker than some of my other cowls--great for cooler weather or working in a place with the A/C too high.
I followed a complicated pattern to get the wavy edges on the top--or the bottom (depending). This uses two different yarns of similar color-changing shades. It can be worn either way. You can also turn it "inside out" for a slightly different look. Wear it up, folded down, etc. And with so many neutral shades, it will fit perfectly with lots of outfits. Almost forgot I made a headband with the darker color (and a hairband with the lighter one). Maybe it's cuz everything is so dry and faded in the summer, but this green is so lush and appealing. It's a wavy yarn so I used larger needles and knit it loosely for a casual cowl.
This color-changing yarn created its own stripes for an easy to knit (k2p2 pattern) but more complicated looking hat. Great fashion accessory, keep warm, hide a bad hair day.
Here's the first of this kind if hat I did with a different color "band." I was kind of going for a "Santa" feel. you could even add a white pompom to the end to really evoke Christmas. They're not really my thing, but if someone else wanted that way, I could change it or they could add it themselves. Bonus, I think it also passes for a fun hat that doesn't have to feel like Santa at all.
Catching up on knitting I haven't been posting. It's funny, but this isn't a color that I thought I liked. But I really like how the cowl and hat (all one skein of Lion Brand tweed) came out. And since it reminds me of autumn, of course I love it.
I liked the Lyons yarn so much that I got more. And I made this above cowl (just like the first but a little smaller) and the slouch hat all from one skein! This is just perfect from the first beach bbq of summer to the colors of autumn, through the holidays and cold winter to Valentine's Day.
